The Downtown Chamber Series; May 2011

May 10, 2011

Event

Once again on Saturday I had the honor to photograph The Downtown Chamber Series performing at the Ice House. The group consists of members from the Phoenix Symphony and perform chamber music in eclectic locations. They share the space with artwork that is always enjoyed during the intermission when everyone grabs a glass of wine and intermingles. This weekend’s featured large-format paintings are by Randy Slack and the installation in the Cathedral Room was by Mary Shindell.

Also performing was the nationally traveling group, The Low Anthem. The band members are from all over the eastern seaboard. This insert best describes them:

“Special engagement featuring The Low Anthem, a quartet who write and perform in  an American folk style with lush vocal harmonies and a wide variety of
instruments including guitar, clarinet, double bass, pump organ and percussion.”

Once again the audience was a mix of all ages and all types who are there to enjoy getting out into the city and hearing live music. I know for a fact many of them used Park-And-Rides to take the Light Rail to downtown and walked to the Ice House, not a bad idea!

Here’s a link for the next upcoming concert on July 23 & 27, 2011 at the Phoenix Art Museum:  http://www.downtownchamberseries.org/concerts.html Be warned, tickets sell out in advance so don’t wait.
