Jeff Johnston Interiors

I have the honor to be shooting residential and commercial interiors for American interior designer, Jeff Johnston. Typically it’s essential to shoot exterior shots during the best time of day depending on the position of the sun, but my timeframe to shoot was 10am-1pm, so I the sun was already in midday position bringing out the worst in shadows and I had to work fast. Fortunately the xeriscaping still popped with late-spring green and the Arizona summer heat was still low enough to use lighting outside.

I did one interior shot for this residence to show-off the focal point of the living room, a bright fuchsia sectional. I kept the lighting subtle, but used it to bring the piece center stage from the rest of the space. A spotlight was directed onto the pillows to punch them out a bit. To compete with the blue light flooding in from the large windows I used 4 precisely positioned strobes.
